Bromley FC Community Trust celebrates Armed Forces Week

Bromley FC Community Trust was proud to celebrate Armed Forces Week by recognising and supporting our Armed Forces community through two special events, highlighting our continued commitment as a proud holder of the Armed Forces Covenant Silver Award.

Our monthly Veterans Hub, held on Friday 26 June in Broomfields, brought veterans, supporters and partners together to celebrate Armed Forces Week. The afternoon recognised the incredible service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces community and featured a fantastic performance from the Beckenham Good Afternoon Choir, creating a warm and memorable atmosphere for everyone in attendance.

The celebrations continued the following day as Bromley FC Community Trust joined Bromley Council’s Armed Forces Day event in Queen’s Gardens. The event brought together veterans, local organisations and members of the community to honour those who serve and have served, while raising awareness of the support available for the Armed Forces community across the borough.

Graham Orr, Chair of Bromley FC Community Trust, said:

“We were delighted that our monthly Veterans Hub fell during Armed Forces Week, giving us the opportunity to celebrate and recognise those currently serving, reservists, veterans, cadets and their families. It was also fantastic to work alongside Bromley Council on their Armed Forces Day celebrations. We are grateful to Charlotte Ryan and Councillor Mike Botting for allowing us to be part of such an important event. It’s encouraging to see the growing awareness and support for our Armed Forces community across the borough.”

As part of our commitment to supporting veterans, our Veterans Hub takes place on the last Friday of every month from 11am-1pm at Broomfields. Open to all veterans, the Hub provides a welcoming and supportive environment where attendees can enjoy a bacon sandwich, meet others with shared experiences and access information about local support services.

We also run free Veterans Football every Wednesday from 6pm-7pm at the CopperJax Community Stadium. Open to anyone who has served, the sessions offer the opportunity to stay active, reconnect through football and even represent Bromley FC Community Trust in veterans fixtures and tournaments.
