Bromley FC Community Trust Receives Prestigious Silver Armed Forces Covenant Award
- News

Bromley FC Community Trust and Bromley Football Club are proud to announce that they have been awarded the Silver Armed Forces Covenant Award under the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), recognising their unwavering commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community.
The award was presented at a prestigious ceremony held on Wednesday, 18th September, in the Sovereigns’ Room at the Royal Air Force Club, Piccadilly, honouring 25 London-based organisations for their dedication to veterans, reservists, and military personnel. Community Trust Chief Executive Jeff Hutton and Trustee Graham Orr had the privilege of representing Bromley FC and Bromley FC Community Trust at the event, receiving the award from Air Vice-Marshal Ranald Munro CB CBE TD DL VR, Commander Andrew Swain MBE RN, and Lieutenant Colonel Jonners Johnston, representing the Royal Air Force, the Royal Navy, and the Army.
A Significant Milestone in Supporting the Armed Forces Community
The ERS Silver Awards form a key part of the Armed Forces Covenant (AFC) programme, designed to foster support for the Armed Forces community and recognise organisations that make substantial contributions to veteran employment, training, and welfare. Achieving Silver status is a significant milestone, reflecting Bromley FC’s continued efforts to ensure service members and veterans are supported, valued, and championed.
Bromley has the highest known number of veterans of any London borough, and the Community Trust have worked hard to provide meaningful support. A key part of this commitment has been the launch of the Bromley FC Veterans Hub, led by Graham Orr, providing a dedicated space for veterans to connect, share experiences, and access support.
Jeff Hutton, CEO of Bromley FC Community Trust, said: “It was an incredible honour to accept this award on behalf of Bromley FC Community Trust and Bromley Football Club. We are immensely proud of our growing commitment to the Armed Forces community, and this Silver Award reflects our continued efforts to support veterans and service personnel. This recognition strengthens our resolve to continue making a meaningful impact for those who have served.”
Graham Orr, Bromley FC Community Trustee, added: “What a proud moment, accompanying Jeff to this very special occasion. This has been the culmination of a great deal of work by Jeff and Matt, to not only secure the Bronze award earlier this year but to very quickly attain Silver Accreditation. This, as Jeff has commented, shows the club’s commitment to our Armed Forces community and something we are extremely keen to develop further.”
“The fact that Bromley FC are one of only a handful of EFL clubs to achieve Silver accreditation speaks volumes. The support and encouragement I have had in starting up our Veterans Hub has been fantastic, and a huge factor in our success.”
A Commitment to Continued Growth
Receiving the ERS Silver Award is a significant achievement, but Bromley FC Community Trust remain dedicated to expanding their support for the Armed Forces community. Through ongoing initiatives, the Trust will continue to create opportunities to ensure veterans, reservists, and their families feel supported, valued, and connected within the club and the wider community.
