The Bromley Belles have always been keen to support good causes. Over the last year they have raised over £4,500 for numerous charities by completing ‘Tough Mudder’, dressing up for Sport Relief to supporting local animal charity, Foal Farm.
In light of the pandemic, the Belles chose to support a local charity. So throughout October the Belles have been collecting food and essentials items for the Bromley Borough Foodbank.
Set up in 2010, the foodbank, situated near Bromley Civic Centre, has worked tirelessly to support the local community. In 2019, 6,000 three-day emergency food supplies were given to local people in crisis. Each food parcel consists of nutritionally balanced meals from non-perishable food.
Anyone can find themselves at crisis point for a number of different reasons.
If you are in need of support you can contact the foodbank. You can call 0300 330 9039 to speak to Bromley Citizens Advice, a referral partner of Bromley Borough Foodbank, who will be able to issue you with a food bank voucher if necessary.
The warehouse is open for donations on Monday, Tuesdays and Thursdays 8am – 11.30am at Stockwell Close, Bromley BR1 3UH.

Bromley Belles welcomed fellow women’s recreational football team, the Crawley Old Girls on Sunday for their first game following the easing of lockdown rules.
A total of 30 players attended the game at Hayes Lane which was a well fought affair. Playing four 20 minute games, there were some great battles in midfield and plenty of efforts on goal. Everyone dug in and after a slow start the spoils were shared with both teams each winning two of the games.
It was fantastic to be back on the pitch playing a match under the lights after such a long time away and great to see our old friends. The Belles’ next friendly will be against Canterbury Old Bags in November.
The Belles are looking for new players. If you are aged over 30 and would like to play football with a fun, friendly group then come along and try us out. You do not need to have played before and there are no trials. All abilities are welcome and we train every Wednesday from 9-10pm on the 3G pitch behind the stadium.
