Ahead of the FA’s #LetGirlsPlay Big Football Day on Saturday 22nd July, Bromley FC Community Trust celebrated the female game with a Women’s Recreational Football Festival at Hayes Lane.
With the Women’s World Cup kicking off in Australia and New Zealand on Thursday July 20th, we invited women aged over 30 to take part in the dedicated event.
We welcomed 10 recreational teams from across London and the South East to participate in a 7-a-side round-robin style tournament.
Our Women and Girls’ Football Development Officer, Andrea Ellis commented:
“With the excitement for the Women’s World Cup building this summer, it has been fantastic to see so many women taking part in this festival. As part of our Women and Girls’ Strategy we want to make football accessible to all. Holding events like this gives older women, who may have not played before an opportunity to play in a safe and inclusive environment.”
