World Suicide Prevention Day: Looking Out for One Another

Today, 10 September, is World Suicide Prevention Day — a time to raise awareness, encourage open conversations and remind people that support is available.

At Bromley FC Community Trust, we believe in the power of connection. Looking out for one another, starting a conversation and simply being there to listen can matter.

This World Suicide Prevention Day, we’re supporting an important message from Samaritans: if you’re worried that someone may be experiencing suicidal thoughts, reach out and show them you care.
You don’t need to be an expert. Listening without judgement, asking how someone is feeling and reminding them that they are not alone can create an important moment of connection.
Support is available
Samaritans has practical advice for anyone worried about someone they know. Visit samaritans.org/WSPD to find out more.

If you’re struggling yourself, you can call Samaritans free at any time, day or night, on 116 123.
Support is also available for people affected by a bereavement through suicide through the South East London Suicide Bereavement Service, which offers confidential emotional and practical support.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999.
Together, we can keep looking out for one another and play our part in building a community where people feel able to reach out and talk.
