Junior Citizen Scheme visits Hayes Lane

Last week the Bromley FC Community Trust hosted the Junior Citizen Scheme for Year 6 children in Bromley.

Organised by the Met Police Youth Engagement and Diversion Team, with assistance from other agencies, including London Fire Brigade, Transport for London and The British Red Cross and The London Ambulance Service, the half day sessions educational safety scheme hosts a number of workshops to show children how to stay safe in everyday situations.

All learning sessions are designed to be interactive and informative, showcasing a variety of life skills to be taught. These skills focus on how to keep themselves safe whilst potentially helping others who may be in difficulty or distress.

Workshops included giving CPR, how to use public transport safely, what to do in case of fire in the home, how to stay safe online and stranger danger.

Community Operations Officer, Alex Koroma had the following to say:

“It was great to see the scheme in full effect and the impact it has on the young participants attending. Often we tend to take life situations for granted both young and old. A reminder of the safety routines in a fun and interactive environment most definitely helps as these participants are about to embark on a journey of independence through Secondary School! All at the Trust would like to thank the Met Police Youth Engagement and Diversion Team for organising such a positive week and the representatives from other agencies that attended for their time.”
