Trust Celebrate International Women’s Day 2024

Last week Bromley FC and the Community Trust marked both International Women’s Day and Let Girls Play Day with a celebration of the achievements of women at the club. This year’s theme was to #InspireInclusion.

The week kicked off with our regular female only community provisions. From leading our girls only sessions at local schools and Hayes Lane, to our Female Coach Mentoring programme we engaged with nearly 350 women and girls from age 18 months to 80.

Friday saw us mark both International Women’s Day and Let Girls Play Day. Our coaches visited a local Primary school where we delivered a coaching session for thirty girls. We then celebrated the women and girls that are part of our community, including our female coaches, and First Team staff.

Last year we announced London Biggin Hill Airport as our Lead Partner for our Women and Girls’ Community Provision. Twelve months on and we are delighted to announce an update on the progress that the Community Trust has made, with the support of London Biggin Hill Airport. Our aim remains to ensure football is accessible to all, and encourage a clear and inclusive pathway for anyone who wants to start playing, both recreationally and competitively, whilst also empowering strong community leaders.

Some highlights over the last year have included;

  • Hosted four Recreational Festivals for Women for over 400 women aged over 30
  • Established a weekly Women’s Walking football session for over 40s
  • Supported three community participants to complete their first Coaching Qualification
  • Partnered with Her Game Too to launch a Female Fan Survey and Female Supporters Group.
  • Delivered community events including Big Football Day, Community Christmas Party

Our dedicated Her Game Too Fixture on Saturday saw the launch of our Female Supporters group. The group will aim to enhance the matchday experience for female fans, host social events and provide information and support. It is not too late to join as we look to hold another event soon.
