Tubbenden Shine at Utilita Kids Cup Regional Finals

Back in January, Bromley FC Community Trust proudly hosted our first-ever EFL Utilita Kids Cup tournament – an exciting new opportunity to bring together local primary schools and celebrate the power of football in our community.
The event, held at Bromley FC, saw eight local schools battle it out in a spirited tournament for Year 5 and 6 pupils. After a fantastic display of teamwork, skill and sportsmanship, it was Tubbenden Primary School who emerged victorious, capping off the day with a commanding 5–0 win in the final.
That win meant Tubbenden would go on to represent Bromley FC in the Southern Regional Finals, hosted by Swindon Town FC at Foundation Park on Thursday 20th March – an incredible opportunity for the young players to step onto a bigger stage.
And what a journey it was.
Tubbenden got off to a flying start, defeating MK Dons 5–1, before holding Gillingham to a hard-fought 1–1 draw. A clinical 3–0 win over Newport County followed, and the group stage finished in style with a stunning 5–0 victory against hosts Swindon Town – topping the group unbeaten and full of confidence.
In the semi-finals, they faced Cheltenham Town in a tense and thrilling contest. Despite a valiant performance, they were narrowly edged out 3–2 by the eventual tournament winners.
Though the journey ended there, the players did themselves – and Bromley – proud.
“The quality of football on display was outstanding,” said Joel Cox, Community Engagement Officer. “The boys showed real professionalism, teamwork and character throughout the competition.”
We’re incredibly proud of Tubbenden Primary and grateful to all the schools, staff, and players who took part in our inaugural event. This is just the beginning – and we can’t wait to build on this next year.
