What is your role at Bromley FC?
I play for Bromley Women, I have been a team member for nearly 2 years now.
How long have you been involved in football?
I’ve been playing football from a young age, maybe since the age of 10, so around 13 years. I’ve played for 3 previous teams before joining Bromley – Croydon girls, Crystal Palace and Whyteleafe.
Growing up playing football I have experienced a lot, which I’m grateful for, along with the memories and big games and events I’ve been involved in.
What has been your experience of being involved or working in football?
A very positive experience. I have had some great opportunities in life involved in football. Playing for some great teams and experiencing many different things.
What have you enjoyed most about being involved with football?
For me, the best bit about playing football is the mutual love of the game from the players I play with. I get to play football with some of my closest friends, while providing me the opportunity to socialise with new people.
The determination and motivation from everyone is so high, and this pushes us to work so well as a team to get the outcome we want, being successful.
I’ve also seen and witnessed, how much of an impact myself can have on other people just by playing football. Participation levels for young girls and boys increasing, crowds at our games are getting bigger and attention on social media growing.
What advice would you give someone wanting to work/get involved in football?
For women, young girls and everyone interested in the football scene, my advice is to keep going, keep at it and don’t let anyone stop or tell you no. Enjoy your football, It’s the best sport in the world and is full of amazing experiences. I have made lifelong friends playing football and it has kept me sane for all these years! Female participation levels and the respect we deserve playing football is increasing and improving and the future for women’s football is looking strong. We are paving the way for us to be treated equally and be taken seriously in football and it’s working. Look back at summer 2022 when the Lionesses bought it home, the growth from that is big and it will continue to be. Just keep going. You’ve got this!
