What is your role at Bromley FC?

I play for Bromley FC Women and I’m also the fixtures secretary so I send information to the opposition and officials regarding home games.

How long have you been involved in football?

Since I was in primary school. I started playing on the playground with the boys and at the park with my dad and sister. I joined the school team in secondary school and was told that I should join a team outside of school, which I did when I was 13. In sixth form I assisted with the girls’ team lower down the school and I supported with some football coaching during my study in Germany at Bayer Leverkusen for some young people with learning disabilities . I now teach football as part of my P.E lessons at school and run football after school clubs. I’ve played for Petts Wood, Glebe and Bromley  but also played 5 and 7 a side in some London leagues and currently still play 5 a side. The opportunities for girls’ participation have increased massively .

Yes, it has been really positive. It has improved my self-confidence , given me strength and supported me to make life long friends.

What have you enjoyed most about being involved with football?

Having fun with friends, supporting each other as a team and supporting the younger generation to find something that they love, as I did at their age.

What advice would you give someone wanting to work or get involved in football?

Get involved now! There are so many opportunities – playing, coaching , supporting – something for everyone !
