My journey: I have a similar story to most women in that I was not allowed to play at school or at a club because I was a girl. I played at uni briefly and then family and other commitments meant I had to give up. There were few opportunities to pick up the sport again – so in 2017, when I saw a news report asking women to apply to become a coach I jumped at the opportunity. I then found out about ‘women’s recreational’ sessions for the missed generation and approached Bromley FC. That is how the Belles was born and we’ve never looked back.

Bromley FC Association period: I’ve been a fan from 2007 when I saw Bromley win a penalty shoot out against Billericay to win promotion to the then Conference South.

I started volunteering at the club in 2018 when I set up Bromley Belles, a recreational session for women aged over 30. This and then coaching girls’ football has led me to start a full time role as Women and Girls Development officer in 2022. I have recently taken on the role of Head of Women and Girls’ which now includes overseeing the growth of our Women’s team as they look to win promotion up the leagues.
